KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KCBS) -- A San Jose business that used to allow customers to fill up their cars with gasoline is now offering customers a chance to fill up on coffee.
The corner of 5th and Jackson in the heart of Japantown was home to Roy's Station for decades until it closed in the early 1990s. Now the spot has reopened as Roy's Coffee and Tea, said owner Carol Rast, whose grandfather opened the gas station after he was freed from internment camps during the war.
The coffee shop opened for business Tuesday, and Rast said she's betting that coffee is still a good investment in this economy. The coffee shop will also sell sushi.
